MISSION STATEMENT

East Bay Arts Academy provides a safe place for all students to learn the habits of mind, body and character necessary for success.

 

EXPECTED SCHOOL WIDE LEARNING RESULTS (ESLRs)

All students will become communicators, researchers, problem solvers, users of technology and ethical citizens.

 

COMMUNICATORS

  • Communicate to a specific audience with a planned outcome
  • Produce various types of creative expression, including poetry, essays, short stories, music, art, dance, sports, and esthetic electronic creations
  • Understand bask communication theory and how it impacts relationships at school, work, and in personal relationships
  • Demonstrate life skills

 

PROBLEM SOLVERS

  • Identify school, work, and personal challenges and develop logical plans of action to effectively resolve issues
  • Apply higher order thinking skills, such as analysis, synthesis, prediction and evaluation
  • Demonstrate strategies and skills to maneuver successfully through standardized test forms, legal documents and applications
  • Balance and prioritize the differences between wants and needs
  • Gain and demonstrate knowledge of post-secondary educational/training options and benefits thereof
  • Demonstrate life skills

 

RESEARCHERS

  • Navigate print and electronic media to conduct research
  • Develop and demonstrate an understanding of the relation of education to career and career earnings
  • Demonstrate career preparation and job search skills
  • Use information from various media to formulate personal ideas and opinions
  • Demonstrate life skills

 

USERS OF TECHNOLOGY

  • Demonstrate computer proficiency in keyboarding, work processing, presentation, and graphics or musical software
  • Easily adapt the essential concepts and conventions of emerging technology in their daily life
  • Use the latest technology and learn new technology for school, work and in their personal lives
  • Demonstrate life skills

 

ETHICAL CITIZENS

  • Show the capacity to work in groups or teams effectively
  • Participate in school, district wide and community councils and groups, or in self-help groups
  • Develop personal responsibility through better attendance and improved discipline record
  • Participate in counseling groups to promote constructive dialogue and communication
  • Participate in the political process as an active and informed citizen
  • Demonstrate life skills
